FuelTech FT700 / FT700 PLUS pinout and specs

FuelTech FT700 / FT700 PLUS is a 122-pin wire-in FuelTech ECU on 5 connectors: A (34 pins), B (34 pins), C (26 pins), D (26 pins) and M (2 pins).

It has 16 injector outputs and 12 ignition outputs. The injector drivers are saturated, which means high-impedance injectors. Low-impedance ones need a ballast resistor pack or a different ECU. The ignition outputs are logic-level. Smart coils plug straight in; dumb coils need an igniter in between.

There are 2 dedicated trigger inputs, each happy with a VR or a Hall sensor. There is no knock input on the ECU itself; knock control needs a separate knock box. It has 2 onboard wideband controllers, so a sensor wires straight in. The MAP sensor is built in.

It has H-bridge outputs labelled for an electronic throttle, so drive-by-wire runs from the ECU itself. Four CAN buses handle dashes, PDMs and expansion. 22 outputs can switch 12V as well as ground.

Worth knowing

  • Connectors C and D are optional harnesses; ignition 9-12, yellow 9-22, CAN C and both widebands need them.
  • CAN D is on the optional M harness.
  • Yellow 21 and 22 feed the wideband heaters when both widebands are used.
  • No native knock input yet; FuelTech says it is planned.

Which builds it suits

Of the 58 swap presets in the planner, 28 fit as they are and 30 fit with add-ons, so every one of them can be made to work. The add-on it asks for most often is an external igniter. The planner fills anything a preset leaves open with its ordinary defaults, so your own build may land differently.

It runs the GM LS LQ4/LQ9 (Gen3 6.0 iron), Nissan RB25DET non-Neo S2 (R33, smart coils), Nissan VQ35HR (High-Rev, 2007+) and Subaru EJ/FA FA20D (BRZ/86 NA) presets with nothing added. The Toyota 2JZ-GTE non-VVTi needs an external igniter. The Ford Barra 4.0 Turbo (240T/245T/270T/310T/325T) needs an external igniter.
