Link G4+ Force GDI pinout and specs

Link G4+ Force GDI is a 68-pin wire-in Link ECU on 2 connectors: A (34 pins) and B (34 pins).

It has 4 injector outputs and 4 ignition outputs. Those injector outputs are high-voltage direct-injection drivers, which makes it a specialist box for GDI engines. The ignition outputs are logic-level. Smart coils plug straight in; dumb coils need an igniter in between.

There are 2 dedicated trigger inputs, each happy with a VR or a Hall sensor. Two knock inputs cover both banks of a V engine. It has an onboard wideband controller, so a sensor wires straight in.

It has H-bridge outputs labelled for an electronic throttle, so drive-by-wire runs from the ECU itself. Two CAN buses handle dashes, PDMs and expansion. Four outputs can switch 12V as well as ground.

Worth knowing

  • The 4 GDI drivers can instead run 4 high-impedance port injectors in saturated mode (guide p6); the planner offers it on direct-injection builds only.
  • Link's own drawing and text give opposite e-throttle motor polarity; the page gives none.
  • Aux 8 and Aux 10 exist from serial 32384 on.

Which builds it suits

Of the 58 swap presets in the planner, 0 fit as they are and 1 fits with add-ons; 57 do not fit at all. The add-on it asks for most often is the Link CAN-Lambda. Where it falls short, it is usually it only runs direct injection. The planner fills anything a preset leaves open with its ordinary defaults, so your own build may land differently.

The Subaru EJ/FA FA20DIT (WRX turbo 2015+) needs Link CAN-Lambda. It can't run the Toyota 2JZ-GE distributor (NA, early): it only runs direct injection. It can't run the Ford Modular 4.6 4V Cobra (NA, cable): it only runs direct injection. It can't run the Nissan VQ35DE Rev-Up (2005-06): it only runs direct injection.
