The Coyote is a four-cam engine, so it asks more of an ECU than a V8 badge suggests: a crank sensor, a cam sensor on each cam, and a cam timing solenoid for every one of those cams. The factory coils are dumb, so an external igniter comes with the job.
The Voodoo and Predator 5.2 litre engines share the architecture and sit alongside the 5.0 litre generations below.
Where this comes from
Some items on this page are cited from Wikipedia and from ECU manufacturers such as Haltech, not from the engine's maker. Each row names its source, and a † marks a row that is crowdsourced. Always check your specific sensors and manuals where you have them.
A figure like 58x is pulses per crank revolution from one sensor. It is a rate, not a sensor count, and it does not say whether the sensor is VR or Hall. The planner reads sensor type, cam sensor count and variable cams from the cited text. Where the text does not settle one, the row says so: check your sensor.

- Notes
- Cylinders are numbered 1-2-3-4 and 5-6-7-8 by bank. The factory COP coils are dumb: they need an external igniter and must not be connected directly to the ECU.1

- The flat-plane crank gives a bank-alternating firing order, unlike the cross-plane Coyote. Coyote-architecture Ti-VCT on all four cams.2

- Notes
- Supercharged. The cross-plane crank gives the Coyote firing order (1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2). Port injection with high-impedance injectors. The factory coils are dumb: Coyote-family COP with an external igniter. The belief that they are smart comes from the R35 (VR38) swap. 36-1 VR crank, four Hall cam sensors and drive-by-wire.2
